This week has been amazing. Elder Perkes and I started the week off with visiting some recent converts and had grilled pizza and talked about the Restoration with them. it sure was great. they are struggling financially, but they are super strong members. Tuesday, we put our heads to work as we sought to fill our day with some productive things to do. it was great. we had dinner with our Ward Mssion leader, who also is a recent convert of about 7 or so months...he is solid. and we made some other visits, as goes the rest of the week.
We had some tragic news here in the Scituate Ward due to the removing of our beloved sister missionaries. Some changes happened up in the New Hampshire, and they were both needed there. so it is only Elder Perkes and Yours Truly, as it has been my whole mission pretty much. They will be greatly missed seeing as this week is a slightly different week for us. Evey once in a while, or every couple of months, the Scituate Ward does something called the Member Help Blitz, where all of the members come out with us in a week and we teach with them. our goal is to get 70 members at least to assist, and now that the sisters are gone, its a little bit tougher. We are stoked to do this though. A lot of Work will be no problem. We are looking to find a bunch of Investigators this week and we have many appointments set up with several potentials...its exciting news here.!!!
Let me see here, last night we were teaching this guy named Milton. He is a Dominican, but speaks good English and so we don't have to pass him off or anything and he would prefer to go to English anyways. So we were teaching Him with Brother Calderon, and we were talking about the Plan of Salvation and he is stuck up on the Whole plan basically because he doesn't see the proof of it in the bible! He doesn't think the Fall is real or necessary and also about the Kingdoms of Glory. He says its not it the Bible and so Its not true.
Well, that is not True. We read about the different parts of the Plan of Salvation in the Bible, but people just don't seem to let themselves believe what they see sometimes. We, as members of the Church of Jesus Christ, believe the Bible to be the Word of God as long as it is translated correctly, Does this mean that it is the only source of doctrine on the Earth or the only book on the earth that God has given us that is full of his word....No. God HAS given us more than just the bible. He has given us the Book of Mormon, another testament of Jesus Christ, another witness of Gods dealings with his people, and another source of the pure doctrine taught by Christ that has not been translated except by the power of God given to the Prophet Joseph Smith. I mean to say that WE have the Word of God on the Earth and it is not limited to the Bible. With both sources of this Holy Writ, we understand the doctrine of Gods Kingdom better than with one alone. These two books are here on the earth to support each other and back each other up and they do. I testify of it. The Book of Mormon is the Word of God. I know it, and I Know that God Knows it. Find out for yourself and Read it.
