[Weston] Anaheim Weekly September 21, 2015

This was another eventful week.

To start off, we had exchanges Tuesday evening, and I was blessed to exchange with a fantastic missionary named Elder Nixon. He used to be one of my Zone Leaders, and we get along very well. In fact I look forward to spending time with him after the mission (he is from CO Springs). I went to his area in my old ward Santa Ana 10. It was a good time.

Wednesday was an interesting day, but somewhat boring. We were at the Mission Office all day it seemed, doing all sorts of tasks. When we finally got out to work, it seemed that not a single person wanted to speak with us. We didn't teach a single soul that night.

Thursday we exchanged again, Elder Montgomery (one of my former companions) joined me in my area in Anaheim. It was a very great night, we taught a lot of different people which was fun for the both of us. Adalid, our most progressing investigator, basically taught us about the Word of Wisdom, and about the prophet. He will be getting baptized this coming Saturday. Sweet!

Maria and Eduardo (two of the investigators I was teaching in my previous area with Elder Silvester) are getting baptized this Saturday as well. WOOHOO!

Friday, President Lords (Mission Presidency)  took Elder Dougherty and I to lunch at the hospital where he does surgeries. He is a great guy, I have gotten to know him very well over the past year and a half.  Friday night was also the night where I initially felt an allergic reaction to a medication I have been taking, which led to a terrible weekend.

Saturday we were in the ER for my allergic reaction, I should be close to 100% by the end of the week, hopefully, says the doctor. We went to the Temple, for the tours that our mission was doing that day, it was my last time that I will see the Newport Beach Temple as a missionary.  I love this Temple so very much.

I do not have much more to report on. The greatest blessing of the week though, is that Adalid is going to get baptized! He came to church yesterday in a nice suit, and just was beaming with joy about the fact that he was going to get baptized the next week. I am also very grateful for President and Sister Taggart. The air-conditioning in our apartment has been broken for the past few days, and due to my allergic reaction, we were invited to stay at their home last night. We basically spent all day today with them as well. My Heavenly Father is so good to me.

[Mason] Scituate, Rhode Island BABY!!!

Well, this last week was pretty legit! We had some fun doing missionary work.

What I mean by this is we extended 7 baptismal dates this week and they were all accepted and they were all at church except for 1. It was so sick.

We began teaching a family this week; Eric and Julie Evans, Chris, Tyler, Nathan, Madison!!!!it was really cool, because they really want to do this. We taught them the restoration and the plan of salvation, and we got them to church with some members helping us out.

We taught Diandra this week, and We invited her to be baptized, and last night we taught the word of wisdom as we were compelled to, and she is determined to live it. it was exciting.

Let me think. We attended third thursday, its a street Fair in connecticut, where we had a booth with our missions amazing Portable visitors center, It was super fun, contacting on the street all night, testifying of the Book of Mormon and helping people come unto Christ! It was the best.my companion talked to Miss Connecticut, and attained her info. it was pretty great, a Highlight for his Mission, for sure.

Well I don't have anything else to say. Some of you will see me Friday I suppose.

Until then,

We had another good week!

Adalid, one of our investigators, is progressing super well! He wants to get baptized, and he has a baptismal date for the 26-27 of this month! Sweet! Axel who I baptized a year ago should be receiving his mission call this week, which is so incredibly exciting! Ahhhh! I do. It even know what to say!

We had two different exchanges this week, as an assistant, we do many exchanges apparently. For both of them, I held down the fort in our area here. I worked with Elder Dube on Tuesday, and Elder Yazzie on Saturday. Elder Yazzie you may remember, he has been a good friend of mine practically my whole mission. Elder Dube is the son of Elder Dube, a general Authority. So that was a neat experience, he is from Zimbabwe. On exchanges with Elder Yazzie on Saturday, we found this chile plant in a complex we were in just before dinner. He plucked two from the vines, and for dinner we had them. Wow. Talk about pain. Elder Yazzie about had a heart attack.

I met with a President Taggart this week personally to discuss future plans relations to schooling and work. We talked about our things as well, but it helped me a lot to calm my nerves for returning home. I am Elder Dougherty's third companion that he will finish off, and every time President brings up things about marriage and companions after the mission, he gets excited and cannot stop talking to me about it. Marriage. President  Taggart has made it clear that it is of the greatest importance when returning.

We attended a few district meetings this week, it seems that our mission is having trouble receiving the training that we and President Taggart give to the mission. We hope to be able to correct the few issues with that, so that we all may be on the same page throughout the mission.

We had stake conference yesterday. It was focused entirely on "Hastening the Lord's Work." I enjoyed it a lot. The greatest part of the week was Sunday evening. Elder Dougherty and I have not had a lot of time to work this week in our area, let alone work together in our area. We parked our car and walked for about 4 hours and  talked to every living soul we saw. It was a real treat for us. The spirit of the work was so strong, and we met so many cool people.

I know that I have been called of God to do His work. For it it were not so, I could not feel the way I do, I would not have become the man I am at the present moment. I am grateful for missionary work,
and the love it has helped me develop for others. I know that Jesus is the Christ.

[Mason] Time flies

If time was a fly, then i would take its wings off, to make it a walk. Then I would have more of it.

This past week was great. We did a lot of physical Labor, Clearing Logs and wood from trees that had fallen due to a storm that occurred over a month ago. We also tore down an old Stone wall at a members home, after digging a huge ditch, to build a Fire Pit. It was cool, but we almost died!! It was a blast. Boulders weigh much more than you would think sometimes. I will not this week!

Elder Heflin and I been struggling to meet with our investigators and we have ended up dropping many of them. If you cant Keep an Appt, then wont keep any other commitment we will leave you. ugh...

Well expect some pictures here, ....

[Mason] to be short in writing

Sorry I didn't email on Monday, We were unable to due to the opportunity presented to our Zone and a few others of going to the temple. We were able to participate in an endowment session, and It was a marvelous experience. We then were presented with another opportunity, one that happens only 2x a year....a Red Sox game at 130pm on a Monday!!!!! so we went to that. They played the Blue jays, and Killed them! it was sick. I dont have the pictures with me, so they will have to be sent at a later time!

As my Mission comes to a close, I also look back and ponder on who I was, and who I have become. I am grateful for these 2 years. I am trying every day to give my all to the Lord. the days are getting shorter it seems, and As I look forward, it seems that I have less and less time due to meetings, and what not. all I can do is keep asking the Lord, "what more can I do?" This question is how we find ourselves receiving the wonderful benediction from the Lord "well done."

I will have to talk on Monday, I need to get out and work, so See ya!

[Weston] Anaheim Weekly September 7th, 2015

My friends and family,

There is much to be thankful for in my life. I have been raised in the Gospel, which has taught me since my youth that I was to serve a mission. I often think about that one decision I have made in my life, to serve the Lord for two years. I ponder many questions. Where would I be if I didn't? What would I be doing? But most importantly, Who would I be? To some, two years may seem like an eternity, however, to one who loves the Lord and strives to serve Him, it is simply not
enough time.

This past week Elder Dougherty and I set some goals for different aspects of the work. We didn't have a whole lot of time this week to focus on our area, just a couple of hours each day, but we accomplished each goal we set!

We visited two different zone meetings this week to see how well the different zones receive the training we gave at Mission Leadership Council one week before. The trainings were very different from what we had taught, and President Taggart was not overly-pleased with many of the zone trainings.

Tuesday we spent nearly all day long at the Mission office working on reports and other items of business for the mission. Sounds fun right?  It wasn't. But it is part of the calling.

We had exchanges with one pair of zone leaders this past Saturday. I went to their area with Elder Hackman. They are in a YSA ward. So that was a new experience for me. It was fun, young adults are very interesting when it comes to the Gospel. Everything about talking to them is different! It was great!

Sunday was really great. We had a few meetings for ward council and what not, but then we were able to sit and study before church actually started. I love the Book of Mormon! It invites the Spirit so Strongly into the lives of the readers! Our ward is a little different than others. We have a small group of people that only speak Spanish in our ward (why don't they go to the Spanish wards? Don't ask me).  They hold separate services, so I attend with them in Spanish while my companion attends the English. I pass the sacrament weekly, I might even have to bless weekly as well. I speak almost weekly. It is great!  The people are very nice.

Well. This week was a quick one again. All is well here in Anaheim. Take care!

[Weston] Anaheim Weekly August 31, 2015

Hello!

This week was great! Incredibly busy, but great! We took the departing missionaries to the airport  Tuesday morning early, then picked up 26 new elders and sisters afterwards. We spent all day with them, literally all day, we didn't do any missionary work that day, but it was great to meet the new missionaries! They are all fantastic!

Wednesday we had trainings for all of the leaders in the mission, it went well. Elder Dougherty and I trained everyone on attributes that leaders should have, we had a lot of participation, which always makes for a better training! We got to work for a few hours that evening in our area. That night we met with President Taggart from 9:30pm to late.... (Not going to say when) to discuss the training we would be giving the following Friday for Mission Leadership Council. We got to bed very late.

Thursday we had district meeting, afterwards President Taggart held a meeting for the four departing missionaries at the end of this transfer (myself included in those four) and we received training
about what to expect upon returning. It made me think a lot about who I want to be when I return. I am not so much scared about going home, but more nervous, just because I don't know what to expect entirely.

Friday we had Mission Leadership Council. Elder Doughery and I trained all of the Zone Leaders and the Sister-Training-Leaders about following the spirit, and teaching for understanding. Not simply teaching to get lessons, but so that our investigators truly understand. It went super well!

Saturday I got to attend the baptism of Desiree! She did it! It was incredible! She bore her testimony at the end, and she shared that it
was the most important thing that she has ever done in her life. I know that to be true for myself as well.

Sunday was church, my first time I have attended an English ward in about two years. It was very strange, but still the first two hours of church I was actually attending a the service of a small group of Spanish Speakers that are in the ward. They hold separate services, so I attended there to help out. I passed the sacrament, and spoke. It
was interesting.

I am grateful. My heart is full. My Heavenly Father has been so good to me in my life. I pray that we may all recognize His hand in all things.

1) Desiree is the coolest! I cannot wait for next year when I will go to her temple sealing in Guadalajara!
2) Departing Missionary Selfie - Sister Taggart likes selfies apparently.

[Mason] #NyquilSavesLives

This week has been a great one, except for that one day when I got sick!!!

We then had to drive to Boston for a medical check up for my companion, and while we were there, I caught something. Byt the Time we made it home at 7pm, I had a Fever, sore throat, intense body pain, head Ache...etc.....it was horrible.......#Bottom'sup #Nyquil

skip to friday....i dont remember

Saturday.....Portable Visitors center tour in Central Falls.....for a few hours I got to speak Spanish and teach people all of the lessons practically in a summarized wayl It was great....and it was powerful!

[Mason] Another week here in Paradise

I love my mission so much. I can't even begin to describe it to you. this week has made me feel so blessed to be able to serve as well as have the opportunity to be here in this particular area.

Amidst all of the service and contacting and everything else we do as missionaries, we had the opportunity to invite people to come unto Christ. We have an investigator who has not been progressing due to a recent trial and has not been able nor willing to move forward. With the help of the Savior's Atonement, He has been able to make a few steps in the right direction. A miracle has happened in his life. He has come to the knowledge that the Gospel of Christ will help him and he can overcome this predicament.

This was one of the best parts of my week. although we did so much more, I felt the Spirit witness to me that this is why I am here and that I am fulfilling my commission of representing Christ.

We did some moving this week and man did we sweat a lot. It has been pretty humid here lately, and it feels so sticky all of the time! Gotta love Rhode island, right?!!!!  I certainly love it here!

This week we were blessed with finding 4 new investigators: Beth , Suzanne , Kerri and Diahndra! they are all super cool and interested! The idea of the book of Mormon is really cool to them and we are excited to help them learn more.

Retno, our investigator who had a date to be baptized, faced some opposition this past week and therefore felt overwhelmed. We are anxious to get to see her and help her understand all that is occurring!

Here in the Scituate Ward, the members and other 3 missionaries (Elder Helfin, Sister's Asay and Hung) all enjoy laughing at me due to the increased proportions at meals that I consume. lately I have just been starving all day, every day. that being said, I challenged, jokingly, the other missionaries (all skin and bones) to a weight loss competition...and they took it seriously.....ahhh. I was kidding.....
so now, its the 3 of them against me, survival of the "fittest" for one month.....starting today! its going to be so fun!!!

Referring back to Adam's lesson, We had a very spiritual moment where things clicked into place for him. We described how Christ is our Healer and that his Gospel is the Remedy and the Church is the Hospital! we of course elaborated on it more fully, but the Point stressed as we taught was that We all in this world are in need of being made whole and that comes through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. We access the Atonement through the principles and ordinances of the Gospel. I know that this is true! We are redeemed as we repent and change and partake of the sacrament or get baptized/ receive the holy ghost. We are enabled through our faith which is the source of spiritual repair as well as through the other ordinances that provide us the means of other blessings God has in store for us. our faithfulness determines the enabling power of the atonement. if I don't believe that I can be made whole and be made free from the bondage of sin, then it will never be so! if I do not believe I can change and be better, then I will not!  Faith determines what the atonement can do for us. if we are faithFULL, then the atonement will enable us to become who God desires. Adam understands this principle now, and he is willing to develop such faith. His seed has begun to swell and it is growing, is yours?

I love the Atonement of Christ. It has made me whole and continues to do so as I exercise my Faith and nourish my Faith! I hope we can all continue to grow our faith as Adam is doing.
"[His] grace is sufficient for all man that humble themselves before [him]" -Ether12:27
"we are made alive in Christ because of our faith" 2Nephi 25:25

I love you all!

[Weston] Anaheim Weekly August 24th, 2015

Hello!

I have no time today.  You may be thinking that it is because I want to play sports or what not, but I have a valid reason this time.

Here is why;
Today is the first day of the new transfer, my last transfer. Thursday nights before transfers, we receive leadership calls from the assistants and the President. Thursday night came, and President called our phone, and asked to speak with me. He told me that he had both bad and good news. The bad news was that I had been released as a zone leader, and I sighed on the phone because I have loved my time as a zone leader. Then President Taggart said, "Elder Scott, the good news is that I have called you to be my new assistant, even though it is just for a short season."

I have six weeks, and I have been called as the new Assistant to the President. I am excited, overwhelmed, and grateful for this new calling. My companion is Elder Dougherty again, he was  called to be an assistant when we were zone leaders together. Crazy.

I am sad to leave the Spanish program for my last transfer, and my area. Desiree is getting baptized this next Saturday, and Maria and Eduardo are thinking about getting married! They came to a baptism this week to watch another, and they also took us out to eat lunch Saturday afternoon (I had a mint in my mouth so I could not smile, ugh). I will miss them all, but I know that they will get baptized soon!

We also helped teach an Hermano in our ward how to read this week. It was fun. He is doing well. We also got new phones in the mission this past Thursday. They are basically the same, but they work better.

I hope my reason for why I cannot write too much today is good enough for you all! Have a great week!

[Mason] The Scituate Ward is on Fire

#let'sgo

I dont need to add much to that, but I will.

This week in Scituate, we had some miracles happen, the first is that we set 2 more baptismal dates, both for September, the weekend right before i leave.

We were able to visit a ton of members and get referrals from them, and they are all golden! We also were able to visit about 400 people(not really) and we have set up several appointments to begin teaching. We were so excited right now.

AND WE GOT SISTERS IN OUR WARD, which is sick! 2x the amount of work and 2x the pace

#let'sgo

Let me see here, I am doing really great, Nothing else is new around here that is worth expressing through an email except that Scituate rocks! I love my area!

I love my mission, I love serving the Lord. Honestly, I love everything im doing right now, nothing else matters or even can compare to the level of importance to what im doing right now. I

Why does it have to come to an end? i suppose that the Lord needs me for the next phase of His work. right?

1 transfer = 6 weeks of pure devotion to the Lord's work and I am all in!

But is this the end? Of course not, when i get home, the work continues! Just as it does for all of us. The work of the Lord is always afoot and we must participate and help him. We promised we would, and he has called us to do so! Let's go share the gospel in the way that Christ would every second of our lives. It is is the best thing we could ever do. It doesn't matter where we are, what we are doing, or when. there will always be a moment to share it, because is will never cease to exist. the gospel is eternal, therefore, lets get going!

My mom inspired me this morning as I read her email. she said that she was able to take 3 name to the temple this week. That is sharing the Gospel. anything that would relate to the Lord and building up his kingdom and saving the souls of man, is sharing the gospel. find your way each day of how you will do it and ask the lord to use you! God will bless you. He has already told us he would! so Let's Go

[Weston] Anaheim Weekly August 17th, 2015

This week was another good one. Today it "sufficeth" me to write a small email.

Desiree is progressing well. She is getting baptized in two weeks. Sweet! Michelle is slowly progressing, her situation is a difficult one. Eduardo and Maria are doing so fantastic, we are hoping to have a family night with them.

Some returned missionaries from our mission also visited the mission this week. They came to the stake president's home when we were eating, and we took a picture. All of them left about a year ago. It is strange being the oldest missionary now. They had some good advice.

We had zone conference this past Wednesday, and I was asked to direct the conference, it was fun. We learned about the Book of Mormon, and it impacted me a lot. We have been challenged to read the Book of Mormon as a mission by Christmas as a Christmas present for Christ. We are together mark not specifically any reference to Christ, the words Christ speaks, Christ's attributes, and any doctrine contained in the missionary purpose. I am attempting to read it all with highlights in my last transfer.

I spoke in church yesterday, our sacrament meeting was in a bind, and the first councilor of the bishopric asked me to speak. It went well.
I spoke on prayer. Spanish is pretty good now. Sweet.

That is my week in a nutshell.

[Weston] Anaheim Weekly August 10, 2015

Anaheim Weekly August 10, 2015

This past week went by quick, and this next one will as well! Wow.

I will mention just a few highlights from the week. To start off we now now have 4 baptismal dates. Michelle, Eduardo, Maria, and Desiree. We are very excited for them. Yesterday there was a baptismal service in our zone going on, and we were able to get Maria, Eduardo, and Eddie (the son) to it to watch. They liked it a lot. This week we taught them Eternal Marriage and the Law of Chastity, and they seemed to be okay with it, they said they would talk about getting married. We hope they do soon.

We had Mission Leadership Council this week and then we taught our zone about what we were trained on. All do the training was focused on recognizing the Spirit. It was fantastic. I learned so much, and I am grateful for President Taggart and all that he has taught me on my mission. We also had a meeting with the stake president to discuss the progress of the wards. We were invited to commit people to be baptized as soon a possible, rather than scheduling out a long period of time for them, we were invited to kept the time short. A ver lo que pasa.

We had exchanges this week, this time I went with my district leader Elder Cahoon to his area. It was a pretty good exchange. We performed some service in the morning at a food bank, and we were given some food as well. Our assignment was to hand our the potatoes. We had to divide them all between a lot of people. There were about 70 50lb. boxes of potatoes. We got a major work out done in our proselytizing clothes. It was fun. We were so sweaty! Later that day, we went to the Apple Store to replace my IPad because there was a problem with the screen, and warranty covered it. We taught a great lesson that night. We asked so many questions, it was incredible for me to recognize the spirit guiding our lesson.

Last night, we went and visited Emiliano our recent convert. He has this puppy named Simba, who loves to escape and just run away. I got his attention and he came running, he is a small dog, but got through the door way and then I took off running after him. It was hilarious. I totally saw that coming. Running every morning has helped out a lot. I caught him about 5 minutes later. It was so fun.

President Taggart has made a few comments to me this week, I believe that I may be training my last transfer, in the English program. We shall see here in a couple weeks.

I am grateful for my mission. I can see for myself that I have changed, and President Taggart told me yesterday that he was speaking with someone I met at the beginning of my mission, (I do not know who...) and the person commented that I have changed a great deal for the better. I love it out here.

Elder Weston Scott

The new suit I will be buying in 6 weeks. I need to slim down some more.

[mason] Hey Family!

We had a very long week this week! mixed with Transfers, Interviews, MLC, and Zone Meeting, and all of the Trainings that we gave in between!

Coolest thing from the week! We set a Baptismal Date with A golden Investigator named Retno! She is so Cool and will be Baptized on August 22! We are stoked!

We are getting sisters again in our Area, so that will be exciting, a little hectic at first because i still feel like im training a new missionary, and now i will have 2 more, but We will be all set!

Interviews with President Miller were great! I went last out of the whole zone, so after 8 hours of interviews and trainings provided by my companion and I and the STL's, I was interviewed. We talked for more than 30 minutes and it was great! He wanted to talk only about me going home, And I had Questions about the Work. I suppose that its about time I start preparing for that transition. He gave me some homework and also talked to me about leadership and we talked about transfers and about going back to the spanish program. We literally talked about every detail about it and He came to the conclusion that He needed me as a Zone Leader still. Though I wanted to return to the Spanish, I gladly accept what president Miller wants me to do. He seems to trust me a whole lot, and he asked me many things regarding mission policies and other Missionary things. He asked for my opinion on certain rules of the mission that had been overlooked such as instruments and other things, and We talked about that, President seems to want me for another transfer here in Scituate, To make sure that His vision is carried to all, including my companion.

I have been pondering and praying what it is I am supposed to do here. I have a very distinct answer given to me by president. I know what my job as I finish my Mission as a ZL.

...

Mission's are not easy. I know that, the world knows that, God knows that. Nothing is Easy. we all at some point develop the above-mentioned feelings. We can not let them sink in. We can not let them harm the Joy we receive from the gospel and the happiness we attain as we live it! I have had too many of these feelings enter my life and i have dwelt on them, and they have caused me great pain. Too many days and weeks and months have I dwelt on feelings of anger, sadness and pain caused by others. but were they really caused by others? know these feelings come and came from the Son of the morning, yea the fallen one even Lucifer. Satan causes us to be offended. He tempts us to dwell on everything that happens. everything I described earlier can be resolved through the atonement of Christ. When we can choose this day and every day to not be offended, we are enabled through the atonement to change and be better. I'm sorry for dwelling on these kinds of things, and I'm sure many of us are. Today, let us give it up. Let us just change.

My message is simple. The atonement of Jesus Christ covers all of our shortcomings. I have many of them, but I know that Christ can free me of them as I let him in and I change. sorry if it doesn't make sense or if it was very blunt, I just wanted to share what was on my mind.

um so I'm dying in Scituate, I found out in my interview.

Um well I'm doing great. Next week I will talk about plans for when I come home. President has asked me to make plans and get things rolling, so I suppose I will.

have a great week!

[Weston] Anaheim Weekly August 3, 2015

I feel that we skipped July?

This week was packed! and it was so fantastic. The greatest thing that happened was that we had seven (yes, 7) of our investigators at church this Sunday. It was so stressful haha, because it was the first time for 6 of them, so they had no idea where to go or what to do. In the end, all went well.

Two of the investigators that came are named Eduardo and his son, also named Eduardo. The wife could not come, but she wanted to very badly. It seems that she was upset that she could not go, and so we are working to help her with that. Early this week we re-taught the restoration, then we taught the Gospel of Jesus Christ on Friday evening, with the help of the relief society president. Eduardo and Maria accepted a baptismal date for the 6th of September. It's a little far out, but they need to get married first. Tonight we will be visiting them, and teaching Eternal Marriage, and the Law of Chastity. We are excited, a member of the bishopric is to be coming with us. They are a fantastic family!

This week we had made plans to drop an investigator named Ivan, and as we went and visited him for out appointment, we talked with him, and asked him if he really wanted to know if the things we are teaching are true, and he responded that he did. Elder Silvester and I both felt that we could not drop him yet, but that we must be more patient with him. Then on Sunday he came to church! It was great.

A member named Christian that used to live here in La Habra but who now lives in Arizona called us a few weeks ago, and asked us to visit his parents who are both not members. This week he asked us to visit them again (even though they have been dodging us) and so we tried to do so with no luck. This weekend, Christian surprised his family by coming home, and took his family to church. Next weekend he said he will do the same, so that his parents get comfortable attending our church. We have high hopes for them.

Desiree is doing great as well. I love teaching her so much, because she understands everything we say! She is excited for her baptism at the end of his month. She is progressing well. It was funny, she asked us if tomorrow we can teach he for two hours, because she has time for it, and thought it would be a good idea. We love her.

Saturday we did exchanges, and I got to go back and visit Buena Park again, my last area, and we visited Bertha, Elder Dougherty's and my recent convert. They are doing well.

Some good news this week is that we finally found Patty! She is a recent convert in our area, and recently has a new boyfriend, and she went missing for three weeks (literally her family had no idea where she was) but it turned out that she just spent three weeks at her boyfriends home. Dang. The Ward is worried about her, we hope to be able to help her to come back to church.

Now. I have saved the most exciting news for last. One year ago yesterday, a very good friend of mine, actually one of my best friends came to church for his first time. His name is Axel Castro. Tomorrow he is to be having an interview with the Stake President to submit his mission papers. Is that not the most exciting thing ever? Elder Silvester and I have been so Excited! This week was great, and then Sunday night we read an email from Axel that told us about this, ahhhh! I am so grateful for my mission!

No effort is wasted. I have come to know for myself through the Holy Ghost, that missionary work is the most important work to be done in this life. I know that this life is as Amulek states "For behold, this life is the time for men to prepare to meet God; yea, behold the day of this life is the day for men to perform their labors." We prepare by making and keeping covenants, and helping others to do the same.

I called Dibs on the purple ears. Wouldn't you?

*** Fun Fact: Today is Elder Messer's birthday, he is in the picture. He and His companion decided to celebrate Christmas for his birthday. This morning we opened his presents under a tree, and are calling today "[Mess]mas." ***

[Mason] Live from Boston!!! or Rhode Island I suppose!

This last week was so Amazing because of the Results after all of our work!

We started off the week with a goal in Mind, the goal being to get our Recent converts (Wendy, Patricia, Frank) to the Temple in August 1st.....this being 1 week after their baptisms........or 2 for Frank. There was so much to get done, and it seemed as if during the week, there would just not enough time to get everything done, to make sure that they were ready, with Family Names! and everything else, including recommends, etc. Every day this week we embarked on this task while teaching our other investigators and members and finding new people to teach as well, and with the clock counting down every second, we managed to get it done! Frank was unable to attend due to the reason of Vacation, but Patricia and Wendy went, along with Charles Newton, another RC, 2 Less Actives, and 4 other Active Members.

August 1st was an amazing day for me, not just due to the fact that we managed, with God's help, to get everyone there, but I was given the opportunity to work in the temple for almost 4 hours, as we rushed in the baptistry to manage the Boston Mission's Recent Convert Temple trip! I was asked to do the Spanish side of the work along with helping as a witness and Font-side confirmations. It was a blessing to me to be able to feel the spirit so strong as we were there. I also brought the name of one of my great(x3) grandmothers, and Patricia was Baptized for Her. I was unable to witness it because I was needed for the Help in Spanish at that time, but Im so Grateful that the work was able to commence for her.

The Temple truly is The House of God and Im grateful for the ordinances available there. I hope that all of us can remember How great a blessing it is to have these Sacred buildings on the Earth.

Sunday, my best part of the week, We were able to help out in administering the Sacrament, and I didnt have to lead the music this week, as I normally do each week, so it was a nice relief! but then the testimonies born were inspiring and I certainly felt the Spirit, and then, my companion and I were put on the spot to go and do singing time in Primary...ughh...sure ok, we replied. That was a blast as we sang for a half hour or so with the Kids that are amazing! We then after that headed to Elders Quorum, but then Sister Vieth, the Primary 1st Counselor, hunted us down and asked if we could teach the Valiants class, as we do almost every week as well! it felt like 2013 again, being in primary for so long! I loved it!!! We have become the Permanent Substitute Primary Teachers! it is super fun!

We then went and had lunch with the Smalls Family who just moved into this house that is sitting on 5 acres that I cant even describe to you it is so amazing. then we went and taught Retno Hariat-Mojo who wants to be baptized! We are going to set a date with her on the following Sunday!!!! it was sick!

Every week the Lord gives us many Tender mercies that I am just beginning to recognize and I am grateful beyond measure. I hope we can all continue recognizing them and giving thanks to God, and as we do, the Lord will open our eyes to so much more!

[Mason] Scituate does it again!

So this last week was pretty amazing, We managed to help 2 more people enter the Waters of Baptism! Patricia  and Wendy ! It was amazing. The Lord really was with us through everything that happened last week!

On Monday we found out that Frank, who was baptized the week Prior, is going to begin the Melchizedek Priesthood Classes ASAP and its so amazing how prepared people are to serve the Lord!

Tuesday was interesting! Wendy met with bishop to just talk and she comes out after the meeting and says that she is not ready to be baptized, but on Wednesday she called us and said she changed her mind!

Wednesday through Friday were exchanges back to back in Providence and Ashford, so that was exiting!

Saturday was the Baptismal service and wow I can believe we Made it!

Sunday! The best Sunday of My Mission. The reverence that took place before the meeting due to primary children up on the stand folding their arms! The amazing messages about Charity and the Tender Mercies of the Lord. We taught Gospel Doctrine and then Primary afterwards! Later that night after making some visits, The Stake presidency held a General Priesthood meeting and President Miller attended as well, so that was even better, but We were all instructed on how to be better Priesthood Holders and I learned more about the doctrine of the Sacrament. It was a truly amazing experience that I can't forget.

We are getting Sisters back in our area at transfers here in 2 and a half weeks, so we are super excited and so is the Ward. My Last transfer will be Sick because we will have some more hands to harvest the Area!. To be honest, I am so excited to have been able to be here in the Boston Mission! there is no place like it and it is the place for me!

I'm super excited to be give my heart for the next few months and see all of the miracles happen!

My Sd card can't be read on this computer, so he pics will come later!

Anaheim Weekly July 27, 2015

This week went by quickly again. Sometimes it makes it hard for me to believe. We will be starting August this week, which means that kids go back to school, and less people to be at home during the day.

This week we got to have our quarterly interviews with President Taggart, our mission president. He is an amazing man, and I admire him. As zone leaders, we meet before all of the interviews that occur in our zone, so that was Wednesday. We met at 9:15am and began with a prayer (Just President and Sister Taggart, Elder Silvester and myself), then our zone members gradually came and left according to the times we scheduled for their interviews. We had scheduled in a lunch break for President Taggart, but there was a meeting he was to be having at 2pm. That hour for lunch was taken up by interviews as different zone members were interviewed for a lot longer that their scheduled times, which is not a huge deal, but Elder Silvester and I go last for our personal interviews. it was 1:45pm when finally we had the chance to be interviewed, and we only had time for a 5 minute interview each, if that, ugh, I really like my interviews with President. But all is well.

In this week's district meeting, we learned about promising blessings and bearing testimony. I learned a great deal the importance of being direct and simple with my testimony. Too often  do missionaries fall into the trap of bearing a long and eloquent testimony, which sounds great, but it is not always carried to the hearts of those being taught. I have come to know for myself that the power of a testimony comes through one's ability to express himself simply.

This upcoming week we will be having a few last lessons with some of our investigators. We are sad about it, but it is necessary. My prayer is that these people will one day come to accept the truths we have been sharing with them, and that they will act for themselves by praying to know the truth, and eventually making and keeping covenants.

We taught Desiree this week a couple times, and it was great. She has a very strong testimony, and studies, not just reads, in the Book of Mormon daily. It is amazing. We will move into teaching her the different commandments that there are this week, she is excited for her baptism. She is to be getting married the week after to Hermano Cerda the second counselor in the Bishopric here. She has it planned out already for a year from now when they will go and be sealed in the Guadalajara Temple. Hno. Cerda's father is the Temple President there. She is great.
We stopped by to find an investigator that we hadn't seen for a month, and we happened to find them at home! They seemed excited to see us. We decided to teach about the "For the Strength of Youth" pamphlet. They have a son, and the expression on Maria the mother seemed to show a sincere interest. We have a lesson with them tonight, I pray that they will come to church this next Sunday.

We talked to a woman earlier this week that said we could come back just one more time, because she wants to know about what the Book of Mormon. We mentioned that it is Another Testament of Jesus Christ, and she was intrigued. Her name is Angeles.

I read an article on LDS.org yesterday about going to bed early and waking up early. It taught that we should seek revelation early in the morning. I think I will keep my missionary schedule for the rest of my life after reading that article now.

My companion Elder Silvester and I are having great time. We will be going on exchanges this week, and I will be going to my last area in Buena Park. I love going back to places where I served previously. All is well here in the Anaheim Mission.

[Mason] Frank was Baptized!

Frank was Baptized! Amidst everything that could go wrong, He knew this was the truth.

Nothing else really matters from this week I suppose. Im just super excited because we have 2 more this weekend and more to follow! #LetsGoScituate!!!!!

Well let me see here, thinking about the book of Mormon, I read Alma 46 this week, and it is a very powerful chapter. It really helped me understand more fully the need to go out and serve and bring people to Christ! We have covenanted with God to do so, therfore, let us fulfill our duties! right?

I'm pressed for time here at the Library, and so i will be better next week!

Muy buenas tardes,

Sometimes I feel that the two years of a mission seems to pass more like 2 months. I feel like wrote to you all two days ago.... The week went so fast. Well, as I mentioned last week we had transfers, so this week Elder Silvester and I have spent a lot of time helping missionaries get situated in their new areas and going to meetings. But I thoroughly enjoyed the week.

We had our first Skype lesson with Desiree our investigator that lives in Tijuana this week, it went well. She is super sassy, and is constantly making jokes, and she acts like a member. She had come to church for about a year, and has read the Book of Mormon several times. She knows the church to be true, both logically and spiritually.

I had American food this week. It was awesome! I didn't feel sick afterwards haha...... But seriously though. We had pork chops and this awesome salad from the Bishop's wife. She is American. Yes!!!

The word of the week is Covenants. I will explain why. For the past few weeks I have been reflecting upon the sacred nature of the convents we make, and also upon the purpose of our life on the Earth. Many people say that all churches lead to the same path, or lead to God. President Boyd K. Packer spoke on this in October of 1985. Regarding the belief that all churches converge into one path to God he stated, "While the converging path idea is very appealing, it really is not reasonable. Suppose schools were operated on that philosophy, with each discipline a separate path leading to the same diploma. No matter whether you study or not, pass the tests or not, all would be given the same diploma--the one of their choice. Without qualifying, one could choose the diploma of an attorney, an engineer, a medical doctor. Surely you would not submit yourself to surgery under the hands of a graduate of that kind of school! But it does not work that way. It cannot work that way--not in education, not in spiritual matters. There are essential ordinances just as there are required courses. There are prescribed standards of worthiness. If we resist them, avoid them, or fail them, we will not enter in with those who complete the course."

Our purpose in this life is to make and keep Covenants. Specifically we must be Baptized, Confirmed a member of the church and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, Receive both the Aaronic and Melchizedek Priesthoods (for men), receive temple endowments, and be sealed eternally as a couple in the temple. This is known as the covenant path. "And now, behold, my beloved brethren, this is the away; and there is none other way nor name given under heaven whereby man can be saved in the kingdom of God. And now, behold, this is the doctrine of Christ, and the only and true doctrine of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, which is one God, without end. Amen (2 Nephi 31:21)."

I know this to be true with all of my heart. I am grateful for the covenants I have made and I strive will all my power and ability to keep them. In a meeting we had this week, one of the Assistants to the a President, Elder Seegmiller, asked us to ponder the question, and I extend that invitation to all that read this: "How real is God to you?"

I have come to know wish a surety that God is real. That He sent His only begotten son to the Earth personally for me and for all men. I know that He is my loving Father. I know that the covenants I have made are real. I love God, my Heavenly Father, and am grateful for the service as a missionary I have been blessed with.

Have a great week,

Elder Weston Scott

This week was great. I have to make it short, we do not have much time.

We had a baptism yesterday, of a great young man named Emiliano. He is so amazing, he is 9 years old, and has brought his mom back to
activity, it's so sweet! Other news, we started arm wrestling everyone in the mission, I am currently winning against everyone. I am still
running in the mornings, which is fun.

We had a Mission Leadership Council this past Friday, we learned about how to help the ward council get involved in missionary work. I will
send the documents home, maybe you can use it too? It's incredible. I am loving it out here, and trying my best to follow the spirit.

[Mason] Greetings from New England!!!

wow....

This week was different! We have a New Mission President!

We had a powerful lesson about the Book of Mormon and its role as the Keystone of our Religion and it was truly amazing what the Sprit can do when you are prepared to teach.

Our Sabbath day yesterday was amazing, and President Monson came and bore his testimony at the end of the meeting. It was just great.

The week was filled with many exciting things and I was given the opportunity to partcipate in a duet with Elder Cagle as we sang O Lord my Redeemer at the welcome conference for our New President.

I dont have much time, so I will talk more in a week!

Ps. President Monson is in our Stake presidency**

[Mason] We have the Faith, do You?

So amidst all of the meetings we participated in this week, we managed to meet with all of our progressing investigators, and some of them twice.

While in a meeting with the mission President, the Providence North Zone was asked if we were serious about all of our Monthly Goals that had been set. This was a concern of his and so we turned to ourselves and said yes we are serious, but then we needed to go home to our zone and meet with them and make sure they are as well.

So we have decided to make our zone's goal a reality and we are doing all that lies in our power to accomplish it. our goal was 3 Baptims this month: Frank, Patricia and Wendy. but we are also going to help Sandy Cardillo into the Waters of Baptism along with Christina McCallin! They are so ready. We are going to do all that lies in our power and stand back and let the power of God do the rest. D&C123:17

We went bowling last P-day with some of the missionaries in our Zone, it was super fun.

We had stake reporting with President Hutchins and President Miller.

We had MLC

We Planned our awesome Zone Meeting

We executed our Zone Meeting

We went on Exchanges with Elder Cagle and Elder Montes.

We walked the streets of Providence, RI

We Kept the Sabbath Day Holy

And We taught the Restored Gospel all at the same time.

In everything we do, we can make it relate to the Gospel. it may seem like a lie when referring to certain things or activities we are doing, but its not. The Gospel is Meant to perfect our character and help us achieve our Potential. The Gospel does have many steps to living it, but they are designed to forge the very best you! I have a testimony that the Gospel has been restored in its fullness. It is sucha blessing, and it is my prayer that we can all live it in everything we do!

Well, its a sad reality, but a reality none the less. My flight has been arranged. I suppose that I will be seeing you all on September 25th, at about 12:30pm.

Anaheim Weekly July 13th, 2015

Hello everyone! I hope all is well! This week went by very fast, I honestly cannot believe it, but here we are. Today is the beginning of a new transfer, I will be staying here in the Fullerton 6th Ward with Elder Silvester another transfer. I am happy about that, we get along great. There have been many changes in companionships for this new transfer. Elder Tanner, my former companion over a year ago is returning from the mission tomorrow. He is finishing. It is so weird. I have so many friends here finishing their missions, people that I have grown to love through serving by their side out here.

I guess to start off for this week, I will start with our meeting we have every month with the Stake President. Every month the Zone Leaders and the Mission President attend a meeting held by the Stake Presidency to discuss the progress of each ward in our Stake as well as the progress of the missionary work in each ward. It was an excellent meeting this time, we talked a lot about the importance of sustaining our leaders, as well as allowing others to grow. It is always easier to fulfill an assignment by oneself rather than permitting someone else to learn, possible fail along the way, but learn and grow. To improve the wards, we, the missionaries, have to stop doing everything they ask us to do. I honestly cannot share my feelings towards what the missionaries do for the wards here. We do too much. But I love these people so much.

I believe I mentioned last week that we received new training from President Taggart concerning missionary work efforts being united more between Wards and Missionaries. President will be sharing this training with all of the Bishops and also the Stake Presidency the 29th of this month. All of it comes straight from Manual 2. President Taggart stated, "Good things happen when things are done the way the Lords has established," referring to Manual 2, chapter 5. Good things are to come to the Santa Ana South Stake. Elder Silvester and I taught Zone Meeting this week about all of this as well, the training is titled "The Covenant Path" I will attach the document and send it out as well. We also focused on chapter 11 from Preach My Gospel, which is all about helping those we teach to keep commitments.  We had great discussion and participation during the meeting.

Every week we have the opportunity to participate in JustServe.org projects, and we are on a weekly assignment at a local project for Habitat for Humanity. Each week we have been attending and assisting in building new homes for low income families. It has been very fun. From fixing busted waterlines to furnishing homes, we thoroughly enjoy the chance to serve there.

The Fiancé of the second councilor in the bishopric set a baptismal date with us today. Her name is Desiree. She is incredible. She has everything planned out, her baptism, confirmation, marriage, and sealing. She is very organized. She come to ward every week, but lives in Tijuana. So we will begin to Skype her and teach her that way this week. We are very excited.

We have been working with many great potential leaders for our ward here. Specifically Priesthood leaders. Ivan is one of these potential leaders. He is a very strong willed person, and seems to fight what we teach with him, but at the same time accepts it. He has not read too much from the Book of Mormon, and recognizes that he needs to read more. With him, we struggle because he will not pray about it. The bishop and his wife are going to visit with him this week! We are excited about it!

Ward Council yesterday was the best one that I have attended my whole mission. I am happy, our Ward struggles with leadership, but I think that they are starting to understand the role of the Ward council. We counseled! We made assignments and followed up on assignments, it was great!  Specifically the Bishop and his wife are taking their time this week to accompany my companion and I to a lesson with some new investigators, as well like I mentioned they are going to go and visit Ivan and meet him.

Emiliano was confirmed yesterday during Sacrament Meeting. I love that kid so much! He is a stud! His mom has changed so much as well, I hope she receives a calling soon. Also, a member in our Ward as a ton of Grapefruit trees, and we got a bunch of them. They are delicious.

That is all I have to report on. All is well here in Anaheim.

[Mason] Time to Change!

This past week has been what many people would call a series of unfortunate events, but not in the traditional sense.

Elder Perkes was called to be the next Assistant to the President for the New Mission President and so he departed from me on Wednesday, though They wanted him Monday night last week. Since then, I have been "floating" between the other Elders in the Zone as what seemed like a Roaming Zone Leader. At times though, I felt as if I was being watched by a few Baby-sitters. It was Rough.

My new Companion is Elder Heflin...sorry I do not have my Camara on me, so I will have to send on the following week. He is pretty Legit!

At this moment, We have a New Mission President, President Miller, and we will be meeting Him on Thursday afternoon. We are excited. Supposedly He wants to interview the missionaries going home with in the next few months ASAP so we will see! Its strange. Elder Trujillo is gone, Elder Silva leave next, then its Elder Miskimens and I! The time has really flown by.

Our vision for the Scituate Area is to get the Home Teaching and Visitng Teaching Program bck on its feet! This week we will be reforming the Ward Mission Plan!

4 investigators attended our Sacrament meeting this yesterday! it was a miracle! We will be having 3 Baptisms this Month, July: Frank WIlliams, Patricia Sigui and Wendy Walker.

We are so excited to be here and o be blessed with Gods Help!

[Weston] Anaheim Weekly June 30, 2015

Hello!

Today we attended the temple, resulting in our change in preparation day. This may be my last temple trip unfortunately. However, today was fantastic. We woke up at 4:30am to leave by 5:30am because our session was at 7:00am. The spirit was strong, earlier this week, I read over a talk from General Conference in 2001 about preparing ourselves to enter the temple each time we attend. I tried to apply what I learned, and I feel that this time around it was a greater experience for me than other times in the past. "I love to see the temple."

Elder Silvester and I are working well together. I enjoy being around him. I have had few companions when in their presence it makes me become a better person. I believe that he is one of these companions. In our area this coming Sunday we will be holding a baptism of a nine-year-old name Emiliano. He is an incredible young man. He impresses me every time we visit with him, he has brought his mother back to church as well.

This past Thursday we exchanged with Elder Cahoon and Elder Messer. I spent the day with Elder Messer in Buena Park, my old area. They are struggling in there a bit, and so we worked on planning, and also talked about the white handbook a lot. I am grateful for Elder Messer. He is so humble. He inspires me to love others more. It was a great exchange overall, I visited my recent convert while we there, so as you can imagine, it was quite fun.

The district leaders in our Zone trained us well this week. We talked about finding. At the beginning of each meeting we account for our area and it is supposed to be a time for asking help and new ideas. I feel that the idea behind accountability has changed during my mission from being a tool in which to inquire of other missionaries their suggestions and experiences for helping investigators to progress, to now where missionaries report on their area to "show it off." I feel that we can all use this time and tool more effectively. But, I will talk it over with my companion.

We have been teaching a woman that was taught about a year and a half ago here in Brea, CA. Her name is Brenda, and the missionaries that first taught her were Elder Curtis and ....... Elder Quito! We had a powerful lesson with her yesterday on the Plan of Salvation. We hope that she will come to church this Sunday!

I am thoroughly enjoying the mission right now. I have recommitted myself to many things, and I feel more productive again. I am stoked for this coming Sunday. Have a great week!
